Seychelles Clown

I bought Wilkerson's Clownfishes book recently and was looking through it. I like the look of the seychelles clown that they had pictured. Does anyone have any of these? I am interested in these and would be interested in obtaining a pair, but I haven't ever seen them around.

I would love to try to breed them, but that is a goal that is down the road.

What's the scientific name? I don't have her book on hand to check it out.

Edit: Ah, found it...Amphiprion Fuscocaudatus, right?

I don't know if I've seen someone post that they had these more than once or twice, if ever.

If you're looking for a rare pair to breed, go for mcullochi :) If you can FIND them, let alone get them to spawn, you'd be an instant legend on these forums!

The scientific name is Amphiprion fuscocaudatus they come from the Island of Seychelles.

I personally have never seen one, let alone heard of anyone having one.

Looks like they can get quite large!!

Not to be the naysayer, but it's not going to happen, they are unobtainable at this point. The closest you will find is the A. chysogaster.

A little FYI Slakker, there is a breeder in AU breeding and raising Mc's, hopefully they'll make it to the states one day.

I figured they were really rare. Even if I could find a pair, the price would probably be insane. I just really like the look of them, especially the tail. I'll probably stick to my ocellaris for now. Thanks for the info guys.

why is it so hard to get McCulloch clowns arent they found in lord howe island which is really close to australia, and i know you can go snorkeling and scuba diving there

DO WANT!

Need more that two broodstock in the hobby though...if all mcullochi in the hobby come from these two, eventually they'll be so absurdly inbred that they won't even resemble the wild archetype.

I should have written:

"And here is a great read on what will probably be the last (LEGAL) collection ever of Mc's there..."
