Shallow Rimless Reef

I think I speak for everyone when I say "update n more pics please!"

Hi.

Unfortunately there is not much to update at the moment, things are just settling down and i am still waiting on all the equipment to arrive!

There will be more pics when the new things turn up and once the lighting is the same on both sides of the tank i will try and get some better pics of it too.

Beautiful build! Would you mind giving me some additional info on the aluminum extrusion stand? Would it be ok if i sent you a pm?

Hi guys.

Sorry for letting this thread go cold. Unfortunately things are progressing slowly due to many reasons.

I have been very busy of late with a lot of work on which has seriously restricted my time to spend on the tank past anything but much needed maintenance.

I have also been having issues with lighting, unreliable units and indecision mainly.. However a decision has been made and updates will hopefully follow in a couple of weeks.

Thirdly i was waiting a long period of time for the remaining equipment to arrive which it now has. The tank suffered for many reasons due to the delay in the equipment and i am now battling a Cyano outbreak!

So unfortunately not all smooth sailing here, On the plus side the SPS is fairing well considering the issues and less than ideal conditions.. nothing spectacular but the colouration has either remained or improved on all pieces and there is growth on 50% of them which for my first real effort at SPS im reasonably pleased.

here is an updated sump shot, not particularly tidy im afraid but i will sort that out soon.

stunning build!
cyano is not uncommon in new builds..
we've all been there.. (i have anyways)
Hang in..
love to see the current state of things- good or bad..
maybe somebody here would have some advice for you....

Hi guys.

Things are not going to plan at all for a few reasons.

I have been snowed under with work lately and unfortunately the tank has suffered badly, i failed to keep up with the growth of the corals, therefore my levels dropped seriously. It wasn't until i started seeing a few looking unhappy i caught it as testing has been sparse lately.
Long and short it has wiped out 99% of SPS and the LPS is looking pretty P*ssed off too.

On top of that the cyano has got worse and i have some nasty green algae growing also.

This has left me feeling pretty down about the tank as it looks awful at the moment. It looks like work isn't going to relent any time soon so i think I'm left with the fact I'm probably going to shut the tank down.

Sorry this isn't what people are hoping to see.

Thanks for your interest in this thread.

That's too bad. Sorry to hear about the troubles..
Why not run it fish only with minimal lighting for a while..
Once the tank matures and you have more time, you could do a rehab then..
Just a thought.. :)
Anyways.. You gotta do what you gotta do..
Good luck!
