It is about 1.5 inches or two inches. Somewhere around that. The hammer ends up the size of a softball when extended. And it grows every month.

I have to somehow enjoy this site right now because I am down on the fact that some invisible mantis shrimp has butchered my 2-yr old yellow tang (it's in the general discussions forum).

It is indeed fun to watch how it rubs itself around the hammer. It's more fun to watch when hammer is extended.

Just sharing.

Archie, be advised that using LPS corals as a host can and will eventually kill the coral. It may take some time but clowns will pester them to death. It is hard to get a clown to host what you want though, lol. I have had them host powerheads, heaters, magfloats, you name it.

Sorry to hear about your fish. Hope ya find that bugger that did it :)

That's a frogspawn I believe.

No, it's definitely a hammer coral. (branching variety)

What an amazing rescue, PBukow! Great pictures!

Keep them coming!

Pipedream, yeah I know what you mean. Nice pictures by the way

Yeah thanks Archie, I'm just glad that its doin ok. What I believe helped it the most while it was regaining its zooxanthellae was to feed it . . . A LOT. I was feeding it between mysis and shrimp pieces almost everyday until it started to really inflate and color up. And also patient on my part played a big role as well.

Nope...look at the tentacle shape. 100% Hammer coral.

This is my clowns hosting my anemones about a day or two after the anemone split. Both anemones are in the picture, it is just hard to tell the difference :)

Jeeperrs, was there anything specific that happened in your tank to cause the split of your bta's. I would really like another one in my setup

GSP has covered the ends of my tank this guy loves it. This is the first sw fish I ever bought back in 98 and yes I still have him.
