Sharing some photos of my tank.

There's a very rich full color spectrum in Margie's pics.. (beautiful shots btw, is that a macro lense?) Her pink/purple/red is what I'm lacking. I'm running 84 3w LED's and 10k halide (for growth). I could be wrong, but the only thing I think LED suppliment could contribute to a halide/t5 setup aesthetically is the florescing pop from Royal Blues.

Thanks again.

Yes, It's a 100mm macro lens on a Canon 5D Mark iii camera, so pretty high end equipment. I'm a photographer, so I have it already for the work I do.

I didn't like the spectrum in my tank either until I added a purple plus T5 bulb toward the front of the tank. That really brings out the deep saturated colors for me, but I still get good greens and yellows. I'm not a huge fan of the deep blue coloring of tanks running a ton of actinic, and I really wanted the pop of orange from the anthias fish too, which I wasn't getting when it was heavily actinic.

What bulb combination are you using? Also what are the dimensions of your tank. I would love to get away with putting a 24'' over my tank rather than the 36'' save me a hundred bucks or so that I can use to spend of fish you know.

Thanks again.

Love your pictures! I just bought the 100mm Macro USM non L. Im not getting the sharp shots that I see you have gotten. Any tips? Im using a 5D Mk 1

Macro lenses take some time to get used to. Try a higher aperature, around 8-12 or so, and manual focus, not auto focus. But you definitely have to throw out more shots when working with macro lenses that just are not focused where you want them to be. It's just a sliver of focus unless you push the app way up, and then you have to slow the shutter down to catch enough light, which can cause motion blur. A 5D mi is full frame, I believe, which should help let light in, but you may also have to bump up the iso to make it work.

Good luck! Keep practicing.
:)
