She fed her Host

We have a mated pair of Maroon Clowns. In with them we also have a good size female Watchman Goby. Yesterday we added a smaller male Yellow Watchman Goby. The two of them hit it off as soon as he hit the tank.
While watching T V last night I looked over and noticed the Female Clown was doing something on the other side of the tank.
By the time I reached the tank, she had shoved the little male Watchman into her host Anemone. All I saw was the tip of the tail, then it was gone.
Sure felt bad for the little guy.
Anyone ever have something like this happen?

I only have read this on the Internet in "anecdotal" postings.

Myself, I have only a clown without an anemone and using a colony of zoas instead. I often see him pointing with his mouth to the center of the polyps. It looks like he would be feeding the polyps.

Wow. Sorry to hear that. I've never heard of a clown feeding a live fish to an anemone. Mine try to feed larger pieces of food to theirs, but that's crazy that yours actually caught a live fish for it.

There was a video on youtube of a clown feeding a damsel to its anemone. I just checked on it and the site says the video is no longer available.

I have seen them feed snails to them before but not a live fish.

yup. Mine tried to feed her bubble tip a tang once.

Thats one thing about this hobby, something new and strange all the time.
In our 75 Gal. we have one of four Fire Fish that jumps into the overflow all the time. When you put it back into the tank it will swim around all relaxed then head up to the overflow and jump in. Thought another fish was after it, but not another fish around. Have watched it do this three times till we put up a screen.

The watchmen was probably dead, it is near impossible to keep 2 watchmens in the same tank.

As stated in my first post, the male and female were getting along great. The male was alive and doing fine 15 min. before this happened.
We have three other pairs (male/female) of watchmans in our other tanks that have been doing great for months.
