This clown is about 7-8 years old and has been the only clown in the tank for the past 6 do you think she would take another being in the tank? She is not agressive at all to anything else.

There is an Anemone in the tank but she will have nothing to do with it, maybe because she is an ORA clown? No idea

yeah, old or not if you get a male she will probably end up getting along with it, although she might pick on it at first. plus if you get another it might become interested in your nem and he might get her interested in it :)

Get her a friend. Would be sad to live alone.

It would be neat to see if her biological clock made her more receptive to accepting mates.

i would not try to mix an orange and a black clown together, especially with an already larger female established in the tank. she will most likely kill the incoming smaller male orange clown. it may work though, but i would get another black one if i were you.

I disagree,

I have two ocellaris clowns one black & white female & 1 orange male. Have not had any problems, initially there was the establishing of dominance, but so far after 6 months they are inseparable.

Beautiful clown btw

My female percula was the only clown in the tank for two years. When I got a batch of young perculas in, I set one aside to pair with her. Once it was done with quarantine, I put him in a clear container in the quarantine tank, and took her out of the display. The next day they were swimming next to each other so I let him out of the container. There was no aggression between them, he swam to her side and they have been inseparable for the last year, rarely more than 6inches apart. It may have helped that she was over 3 inches and he was less than one inch when they were introduced.

the only reason why i say not to is because too many times i have seen a black and orange clown or maroon and whatever clown kick the living crap out of each other. i never said it will never work.. but if you see your black clown take the tail of the other and smash it against the rock in an underwater powerbomb, thats the time to take him right back out

I had a clarkii and occelaris together for over 5 years. While they never fought vigorously, they did have little dominance spats every now and then. Recently I upgraded to a larger tank, and they began to fight in earnest. I wondered if they were pairing, but I didn't wonder for long. The Clarkii had to come out. I can't speak for all species combinations, but in my case, a clarkii and occelaris would not pair up after years together, and eventually the clarkii decided the tank wasn't big enough for the both of em.
