Shooting Resolution

On my D40 I have a choice of 3 resolutions. They are labeled Basic, Normal, and Fine. What do you use?

I have also tried the RAW format because several people have recommended it but quite frankly I can't see any difference.

I usually shoot in JPEG Fine for most shots, and RAW for my aquarium photos.

You won't see a difference between jpeg and raw, but there are more post processing options with raw (wb correction being the big one)

To see a difference between RAW and JPG you need to process the RAW. Straight out of the camera the JPG will look sharper because the software in the camera did the RAW conversion already. The point in shooting RAW is that you control that process vs a chip in the camera.

The choices that you indicated on your camera have to do with the compression applied to the image. If you're going to shoot JPG, leave it at FINE.
