shopping for a controller

I'm not a big fan of the "well, it depends on what you want to do with it" kind of responses, but they are so true, especially in the case of controllers. :-)

I just recently got a controller, and the AquaControllers and ReefKeepers were really the only ones I considered. The other products were out of my price range. I got an AC3 and have been very happy with it.

Basically, though, here's what it boils down to:

- if you foresee yourself ever wanting to connect your controller to the Internet, monitor it and control it, then look at either the AC3/AC3Pro or the Reefkeeper Elite.

- if not, then you should be fine with the ACJr or the Reefkeeper Lite.

Just my 2 cents!

I thought you could connect the ACJr to the internet if you got the one with a serial cable.

I am in the same boat, trying to decide between the ACJr and the Reefkeeper 2 or Light. The max I want to spend is $300.

You can connect the ACJr to the Internet, but you'll need it permanently connected to a PC via a serial cable, and you'll also need the full (not free) version of Aquanotes, which is another $89 or so. Personally, it's really not worth doing; you might as well go to an AC3/Pro or Reefkeeper Elite if you plan on getting your controller on the network.

I just bought a RKeeper Elite from a local sale thats 2 weeks old for 400 with an auto top off system. Ill let you know how it works out ;)
