Short and sweet, my 24 gallon nano

They will eat anything meaty. I feed mine Ocean Nutrition Formula 1 or VHP. Anything meaty that doesn't fall apart easily will work. I even feed mine pieces of shrimp from the seafood dept. What were you feeding yours? I still think it is splitting. I have had my rose for almost three years and it split twice in three years. It is never large when it splits. My rose has never been 3.5" in diameter.

I'm a little down about my RBTA, so I haven't been in the picture taking mood. It's in a bad area of the rocks, nearly impossible to get my fingers in there to feed, and when I do manage a piece of food for it, the *&^%$#$%^&*( crabs take it away. I'm ready to do away with all my crabs and make crab soup!

I am sorry your bummed out about your RBTA, the odds are not with us though on keeping Anemones like that. Only about 89% of those that keep anemones have them last longer than 6 months and 50% of us can't get them to last past the 3 month mark.

I have been feeding frozen formula 1(defrosted) and mysid. But, I just ordered silversides and krill. I think I have been over feeding.

Try feeding larger,meatier foods.

But, it looks like you will be doing just that once you get the silversides and krill.

You can try some fresh scallop or similar as well cut into smaller pieces.

Hey ,

I was REALLY a Newbie when I got my Anemone, but was told to feed it the silversides. So you are on the right track. I have had all three of mine for over a yr and a half. And they are all growing and doing well. Yes they have moved from time to time. After the move of the tank to the Nano the seabae in the 85 moved around three times agraghhhhhhh. Then I just let it have it's way I wanted it to face out but he wanted to face in...oh well

Amanda yours will be ok . I am sure you have the silversides by now. just cut it small maybe 1/2 in pieces and start with that, as small as it is.

Amanda for a time my green bubble tip mved out of feeding reach. He did ok then moved and this is only under 72 watts of PC. He eventually moved out to a better place with in reach. Make sure that you feed smaller chunks until you can see that he it getting a good hold on the food. I have found it is better to give a small chunk every day or so then a large one 3 times a week. Seems to keep him open more. THis may work until he moves for you.

If you have shrimp keep an eye on them. They will steal any food he gets too. I have to bait off my peppermint shrimps in order to feed the anemone.

I have my daughter's 4 th b-day party this weekend, and I would like to do a water change after the party, so I'll get some pics on Sunday.

My orange and purple cap are growing great! My coco worm lost it's head, but regrew 2 more. My zoos look fantastic and all my fish and inverts are great! My anemone moved to a better spot and fluffed out again. I think it was just trying to stress me out! I came accross a beautiful 3 inch anemone at moby dicks, it's a bubble tip, flourescent green with flourescent pink tips, I couldn't resist and bought it, it''s doing great!

I"m looking into upgrading already! I'm still looking to stay small, but thinking like a 40.

Well our 22 gal has been running for a week now and my diatom bloom is in full swing. I also took the advice and didnt do the fake rock route. We added 15 lbs Carib-Sea and 10 lbs LS as well as 2 pretty big pieces of LR to the main tank and some rubble to the back ... did our first water change this weekend and all is well. The damsel that we had to transport to the new house for this tank is loving its new home. Soo much room compared to the 7 gal it came from.

This weekend I will be picking up a skimmer. I dont know if it will be a CPR or a Remora. The LFS has CPRs in stock but the Remora I would have to order.

What is everyone's preference on those 2 ?

Then come the zoos, rics, and shrooms ... already have a small frag of xenia in there that im sure will grow like crazy. Plus I have an itch to get a small hammer or frogspawn -- not sure on that one yet.

I also might have to change up the lighting. The stock hood has 2x32 PC ... I do have a Satellite hood with 2x40 so thats a bit better but Im really leaning towards the Sunpod 150.

Thanks again ... ill have pics soon ...

Go witgh the Remora. You will be much happier with it in the long run. I have an Urchin which is the sump model of the Remora. Amanda has used a Remora in the past and believe she is using one on her nano now. The probelm with the Remora on some short tanks is that it is too long for tanks like a 20L so make sure that it will fit before you order one.

my little anemone had some issues and is looking better actually. It had moved to a shady place and kinda shriveled up, then I started hand feeding it and it moved to more light and it's color is starting to come back. It's actually on th emend, I hope.

I don't know why it moved in the first place, could have been it's diet, but I bought better food for it and it's definetly eating now. I think maybe it got malnurished, not sure. Any advice?
