Short and sweet, my 24 gallon nano

This blenny is not too active. he perches a lot like my YWG. He picks at algae off the sand and rocks. He's just so funny how he's checking everything out.

Jordo, it's hard to describe his color. He's almost a neutral color on his body, then his dorsal fin and tail have red. Here is a shot...

Your fish look Great !!!! I want a tail spot too:)

My jaw fish still hasn't came out :( He looked healthy, I think he is just in hiding.

Awww... I love jawifsh.
Give him a couple days to get settled in. My favortie fish:)

They are very neat fish Amanda! ( The tail spot). Maybe after the goby and 2 horses get settled, I will get one.

My yellow clown goby was missing for 3 days. I assumed he was toast. I looked in the overflow as well as in the filterpad in the sump. I did not see him. On day 4 while cleaning out the overflow (out of water for 5 minutes) I saw him him the corner. I scooped him out assuming he was dead and he flopped a few times. I put him back in the tank last yesterday and he's back to normal. I would check your overflow/sump. I checked mine with a flashlight but must have missed him.

Amanda, where did you get your clams? What is the minimum size you recommend? How about species?

He should venture out in no time! Mine had and awesome personality; he made all his burrows in the front of the tank where he could beg for food.

I sure hope so!!!! He is so pretty, I want to see him:)

Good morning everyone! Can I just say, I'd like to ring the neck of the person who invented Paczkis!!!!! It was probably some skinny person. Why do I buy those things!

How is everyone today? My tank is doing awesome, my only complaint is having to physically go in my tank everyday to wipe down the glass of algae because I get too my sun light on it.

How is everyone doing with water changes? I find myself doing them every 4 day sbecause it's sooooooo easy! I have those 2.5 gallon water jugs from the grocery store. I fill one with RO water, mix salt, throw in some air stones for an hour, take an empty 1 gallon jug, fill it 2.5 times in my tank, and dump the fresh water in. It's soooo easy compared to my 75!
I run carbon for about 2 days a week. I love having a little tank! I'm kinda thinking about another! Since I won all that money at the casino, maybe I'll do some tank shopping!!!

amanda, does your YWG hide or active? Mine hides ALL the time. I have to walk as carefully as possible, just so it wouldn't notice me sitting down. It never comes out to the front of the tank, and it always lingers in the back near its hole. i've had him for about a month now.

My YWG sits right up against the front of the glass, he wants to know everyting that is going on!

Ok, so, I have been thinking about it, and I think I"m going to go with a 110 gallon for my living room. I was going to do a 240 in th ebasement, but the reality of it is, I'm never in the basement and it's not finished yet. Also, I'm thinking this tank will be a FOWLR. I have always wanted a large angel, and I just don't know what, if anything I can keep with it. I'm looking at the majestic angel for my centerpiece as it says it's one of the easier ones to care for and it's hardy and needs a tank of 70 gallons. I have a list of all the fish I want, and the angel is the only one I have to worry about, so, maybe I could do some SPS. I don't know yet. I'll get the lighting for SPS and if I can do it, I will, and if not, well, then I guess it will just be a FOWLR.

OK, need advice. Here are some pics of where I want to put the new tank. I'm going to use my casino money I won towards the tank. Of course, I'll need to go back to the casino to get more ;)

Ok, now, we obviously don't have out furniture in the room yet. So, it makes it easier to get everything set up before buying furniture. Also, I'd like a line run up through the floor behind the tank with RO water. Also, I need to figure out how I'm going to do water changes with the tank in this spot.

Ok, now, as you can see, we have a piano, we recently got it and we'd like to make the living and dining room elegent. So, which style do you think would look best... a flat back hex, bow front rectangle or something else. I like the look of the flat back hex to be honest, but the rectangle gives more room. I want the 5' long or 60" tank as that would center nicely in that corner. Also, should I go black acrylic stand and hood to match the piano or an oak or maple cabinet(not sure which color as I haven't picked my dining room furniture yet).

Advice needed!!!

Amanda

Is that one of the pianos that plays by itself?

I would put the sump in the basement if you can. Then you can do water changes in the basement in via the sump. Since the basement is unfinished you can map out some space for a small sump/qt/frag room.

I would go with a wood stand vs. acrylic. If you have it professionally made and painted you should be able to get a nice shiny finish to it. Check out this custom black stand and canopy. I think it is very elegent.

My favorite tank is the AGA/OCEANIC 120. I like the width and depth and the fact it has two overflows and only requires two MH bulbs to light the tank.

If it were me I would go ahead and light the FOWLR with MH anyway just to get that shimmer look plus it takes up much less space than trying to light such a large tank with flourescent tubes. If it is going to be a FOWLR then I'd go with 150 or 175W bulbs.

Yes Robster, it's a self playing piano.

I found this cabinet, and I really like it.

It's even pictured with the flat back. I'm not running plumbing to the basement because it will be finished eventually and where the location of where it comes through the floor would be bad. I think I'll just have a regular sump under the tank. I'm just trying to figure where I'm going to run the water out of the tank with my python hose. I guess I could reach the laundry room.

Well, I'll let everyone know what I come up with.

You can run plumbing through the floor and up in the basement ceiling (which will be covered eventually) then back up into the laundry room into the washer drain in the wall.

If your sump is in the stand, then your water changes are done right there in front of the tank, so you will want a thick rug/or carpet to lay out while doing the weekly water changes. This of course also means lugging water around. That hood on that hex is very thin for Power Compact or T5 lighting, the taller hoods are for MH + supplimental lighting.
