Im So Confused!
Hello Ladies and Gents.
A little history about me and this build. This 20 gallon long tank was the refuge for my 65 gallon DT. However we decided to sell our old house and upgraded to a larger house. Of course this helped me with a much larger aquarium build. Well anyways my 65 gallon aquarium is now my QT and will have a HOB filter. So that left my sump. So I removed all the baffles and cleaned up the glass.
I decided to go with a HOB filter with this also. I went with the Fluval C3 and 40 pounds of CaribSea Arag-Alive Special Grade Reef Sand, Fiji Pink. While I waited on that to be shipped I built the stand. Now I did this stand a little different. I didnt want the stand to overwhelm the tank. So I designed this instead, Just to break it up some. I skinned tha stand with a sanded plywood and just rounded over all the corners. I built two shelves on the inside and left it open without a door. I do plan on painting the stand but not sure of what color yet.
Now I have painted a few aquariums for the background. I usually use a gloss paint but this time I decided to try a primer from a rattle can. All I can saw is wow. It went on very nice and even, and it seemed like it didnt want to run as easy. It only took three coats and it was done. On the DT side it didnt show up as that faded black or gray look, it showed shiny black. I was so pleased with it I did my 65 gallon the same way.
Well moving on, my items had arrived!!! I put the filter together, threw one of my heaters in and a little powerhead i had. I built my aquascape from some of the reef rocks I had in my 65 and then placed my 40 lbs of sand in. It seems to have given me a nice deep sandbed. When I ordered this sand I wasnt to sure, Im the type of guy who likes to see it in person first. Well I took a chance and wow! im glad I did. I love the sand and will be using it on my other builds.
The tank is in its cycle now, going on day 2. Once its done Ill throw a small CC and then go get my true percs my friend has been watching while I was moving around. Here are just a few pics.
