Short Tenacle Torch is sick

I just did a revive dip. Looks like it is bleaching on the 2 unhappiest heads. Should I iodine dip?

I moved it to lower flow.

Have you done any dips with it? I'd try Revive first and see how it does. You can always do an iodine dip too.

I did Revive today and move it. Photo was 15 minutes after so rightfully it was still not happy. Although it did seem to bleach in the two weaker heads.

If it bleaches further do I target feed?

I am chasing down what my dosing happy spot is for calcium and alk

Plus I had a 3 degree temp drop two weeks ago BC of power.

I like this coral okay but it isn't my fav just hope it isn't a warning (not to say I am indifferent I want it thrive).

Based on the looks of my coral is that piece likely a goner? I have that frag probably a month, and it looked good for a long time. That said my tank is 3 months and 4 days old (thanks Aquatic Logs)

Alk down (or is 10.6 ok) and Cal up? Or just more stable? My Calcium was 350 last night after a water change. I will check today after dosing last night and this morning. My understanding is with MG 1240 I will want to get it middle 1300s once I get calcium up?

Lighting is fluval led that comes with the M90. A little under powered, but should be sufficient? the lighting part is style a mythical piece to me.

Lighting could most certainly be your whole problem. Your parameters aren't off that badly to cause a problem IMO.

Not necessarily a goner. As long as it hasn't completely receded there is a chance. I don't think your levels are the main contributing factor but most likely did not help. Best guess is lighting. I assume you had it higher in the tank which led to it bleaching. Best bet is to leave it on the bottom and if possible shade it a bit. These corals can handle high light if acclimated properly, but under those leds it might be best to leave it lower in the tank out of direct flow.
you want to raise magnesium first.

I have it lower I believe in a lower flow area (moved it there after dip) so that is good- I actually have another really low flow spot it could go as well. I need to does mag I believe then.

I assumed the dosing part would be easy, but it looks like finding that dosing equilibrium is going to be my next hurdle

oh also my Phosphate is 0.25 or less on API - I think I need to get that lower as well. Nitrates are 0 (red sea)

yes, get phosphates down as well. Ideally .05 and lower. I run .02 to undetectable at times.
Undetectable after changing out gfo, then once it starts to creep up change out gfo.

I think that is my next move - gfo reactor

Depending on the size of your system the BRS reactors work just fine. An Mj1200 pump is all you need or if your using a return pump and its a bit over sized you can T off that with a valve to control the flow through the reactor.

Not a good plan to put recently dipped corals in lower flow, they slime up and can catch infections pretty easily. You want it to have enough flow to "sway in the breeze", euphyllia in general are not fans of low flow and if it's always been in a really low flow area that might have something to do with it receding.

Your phosphates aren't bad enough to harm it, but you need to get your calcium, alkalinity and magnesium balanced asap. Not through water changes or you'll never get there, but through additives and the sooner the better.

Just dosed Magnesium used hyper reef from Sicce- I think that will make it easier for me to reach my calcium number. Will keep dosing that daily and take a reading tomorrow.

The Mag supplement instruction seemed to required a lot where as the calcium and alk dosing seems to be a little more judicious. Based on instructions I put in 250 ml (36 gallon tank). Calcium I am doing 10 ml a day based on instructions (using esv two part, but not using alk part until I get my CAL and Alk balanced)

Torches harder to keep ? No
But hammers are a bit different when it comes to polyp extension and you wont get them to look like the torch when it comes to the sway that they have. But like the torch, they like a lot of indirect flow.

Have you ever seen a sweeper extended on it? I love to see them do their thing
