Shortening bulkheads - is it possible

OK guys, got my bulkheads for the new tank. New problem. I have limited space on the back of the tank and on one of the holes in the bottom of the overflow with space restrictions. Is it possible/safe to cut say half of the threaded end off the bulkhead? If I could do this I would be homefree.

That would only give you limited area for the pipe to seal in the bulkhead. It may be possible. I would be a little worried.

The ones in menion are going to be plugged, not used. I will plug them on the inside and outside for safe measure. The tank was drilled in 8 places. 2 - 1.5 inch returns out the back (that will be plugged). And 6 - 1" on the bottom of the tank, of which 2 need to be plugged. I will use two 1" on each side for intake and return. Will it be okay to plug from the inside and outside if they are cut?

I guess you could. I think since you are plugging both sides it should work. Just make sure on the back side where you cut it that there is some level of a good seal on the plug. Good Luck!

If worse comes to worse you can just install the bulkhead backwards (flange on the outside).

I have never cut a bulkhead to shorten it but i dont see any reason why it wouldnt work.

I think you would be perfectly fine also, as long as you have enough room to get a surface for the other pipe to glue to, 3/4-1" or so. The glue actually welds the two pieces as one, just use plenty of glue, it will work.
