Should I be concerned?

Noticed this on one of my clowns today, they are both acting 100% normal.

Tiny white spot on his pectoral fin. Sorry about the quality but it's a way blown up cell phone picture.

And in DT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kM81JziBhQ&feature=youtu.be

They both look completely normal, and spend most of their time going around picking pods off the rocks and the glass throughout the day.

Just curious but how old is your tank? Your rock looks so "clean" and very limited growth on them?

I am no expect but that one spot looks like ick to me.

Probably just Lymphocystis, a virus that comes & goes on a lot of s/w fish. But do keep a close eye on it; see if it spreads.

Awesome avatar BTW! :D

Tank is about 10 weeks old now. I cycled the dry rock for 6 weeks with a live rock piece to seed, then added 2.5lbs of cycled live rock to that. Ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate ~5. I've had the clowns since 04/04/14.

Really hoping it's not ich, I'm in a college dorm and we're allowed 1 10G tank, might be able to do a 2.5G QT if 100% necessary though.

Thank you! :) Will do.

Just an update : the spot is still there, but hasn't changed or made more. And he might have had white stringy poop but not sure. It could have been slime that got on him from going too close to my hammer. Thoughts?

Edit: just got back to my room. he does have white stringy poop I think, only about a 1/4" long though. What's my best option? Prazi? If so, can that be used in my DT? I'm in a dorm and only allowed 1 tank.

Would have liked to edit this in, but: noticed he was having trouble eating my pellets, he would chew and then spit them, so I crushed them with the side of a knife, and he went after the small pieces like a starving dog. Could that have contributed to the poop thing? Also, still need thoughts on prazi, I can have it here Thursday if it'd be best.

If you're seeing white stringy poop, I would treat with Prazi. Also, if this is a new clown, keep a close out for Brooklynella.

Doesn't have any of the symptoms of brook except the food spitting, but I think that was just because the pellets were too big(fixed now). Looking closely at that spot I'm not even sure if it's not just a white dot mark on his fin, like a natural one. I am going to order PraziPro tonight though, is this the correct one? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0006JLPC2...TF8&colid=1JLJT6ADYFVS7&coliid=I230XFRN7KIAAU

Also, I don't have any worm creatures, but I do have an emerald crab, 3 trochus snails, 2 nass. snails, 4 hermits and the two clowns. Coral wise I have 1 hammer frag, 1 zoa/polyp frag of some sort, and 1 leather frag. I'll have to treat Prazi in my DT so am I right in thinking it won't affect any of those?

Yup, that's the correct Prazipro to use. Just remember to do a second dose 5 days after the first. 25% WC before the second dose. All of your inhabitants should be fine.

Thank you, much appreciated. I ordered it and API General Cure just in case I needed it. Should get the Prazi Wednesday, and the GC on Thursday. I'll keep this thread updated in the meantime. Fortunately it's not looking too bad, the clowns are both still looking great and acting 100% normal except for the small (male) one having whiteish stringy poop and the one white spot.

Prazi is for flukes/internal parasites. API GC is the better choice for intestinal parasites. Unfortunately, "white stringy poop" is a symptom of both. But with intestinal parasites, you may notice the fish looks very thin or has a pinched stomach.

Good info there, I would go with the gc just because it has metro as well.

Interesting. Given my clown's symptoms, would you suggest I use both? Or just one of them?

I figured even if I didn't need API GC right now, it'd be good to have on hand.

I would start with just Prazipro (gentlest), and then move on to API GC if you are still seeing symptoms. My main concern with API GC is it contains metronidazole, and IME that medication is a lot harsher on fish than prazi.

Got my prazi today, so I'll dose it when I get back to my room(maybe). I see it says I should do a WC before treating? I don't have any RO water right now to use, but will in the next two days. Shouldi wait to treat or should I do the treatment and then follow up with the WC? Clowns still both are looking/acting 100% normal.

Thanks for the help so far, much appreciated.

You don't need to do a WC before the first dose. However, you will need to do a 20-25% WC before the second dose (5 days after the first). If you saw white stringy poop I would treat. Prazi is a minimally invasive/safe medication to use.
