Every time I feed, I get the microbubble thing going. They clear up in a few minutes though.

So that brings up the question...

Should I be turning the skimmer off when feeding?

Most foods will alter the water per say for a little while and your skimmer will naturally stop producing mico bubbles until the food is absorbed. Some will say yes but its up to you.

my skimmer works better when i turn it off for feedings that way there is no food inside it
i think some of the really good skimmers can pull food out of the water mine can not

I dont' think it is going to make that much of a difference. I would just let it run while you are feeding. A couple minutes of microbubbles isn't too big a deal.

I prefer to shut off my return pump altogether when feeding. Im not trying to feed the skimmer and sump.....im trying to feed the fish.

I do shut off my skimmer as well....but for no other reason than the inreased water level in my sump that happens wehn i shut off my return pump will make my skimmer take on water
