I just got a killer deal for a 100 gallon RR truvu, stand, and sump for $300. I plan on starting a FOWLR tank and later moving on to reef. I was gonna purchase all brand new equipment but couldn't pass this good deal. The tank came with a wet/dry filter sump. Looks like an older version of the DelRey Wet/Dry Filter Sump. It also has a pipe that holds a filter like the TRUVU DLS Pre-Filter. I've read a lot online that I don't need a wet/dry filter that the live rock will do the filtration for me. I already have a euro-reef protein skimmer so I am all good.
What I was originally gonna do was get a custom 3 chamber sump with a filtration sock chamber, protein skimmer, and refugium. Should I just do away with the wet/dry sump and get my berlin style sump?
Can I modify the wet/dry sump into a 2 chamber? Remove the bio balls put a sock on and throw some rock in there and put the protein skimmer in the other chamber? Your advice and help is greatly appreciated.
