Should I go Chaeto in a JBJ 28g Nano?

I currently have a JBJ 28g Nano and was wondering if I should get an In Tank Media Basket and JBJ Fuge Light to grow Chaeto to control an Algae Outbreak on 1 piece of rock and some cyano/brown algae on the sand?

My current setup is as follows:
-Stock Basket with Sponge, Filter Floss and Carbon.
-Fluval 204 with Stock Sponges, Filter Floss, Phosban, Purigen and Chemi-Pure Elite.
-New (1 week) Aquamaxx HOB-1 Skimmer
-22lbs of Live Rock
-30lbs of Live Sand

My current Livestock is:
1 Alveopora Daisy Coral
2 Mated False Percula Clowns
2 Peppermint Shrimp
1 Emerald Crab
12 Nerite Snails
50+ Dwarf Ceriths
4 Florida Ceriths
20 Nassarius Snails

My feeding is:
Daily Formula1 or Formula2 pellets or Reef Flakes. Very little falls to the sand and if it does, Shrimp and Nassarius snatch it up in less than 30sec.
Weekly MicroVert 1ml in syringe directly under Alveopora.
(All Pumps and Skimmer off during feedings)

I have read that having a Canister is a bad idea because of Nitrate Build Up? So I am thinking of removing the Canister completely and going with the In Tank Media Basket and placing Filter Floss Pad, Purigen, Chemi Pure, Chaeto and then Filter Floss Pad again to catch any Loose Chaeto. The current Phosban in the Canister seemed to last only about 2 weeks and then I had to just replace it again. It's probably not the optimum setup being in a canister, I know.

Would this be a good idea? Any suggestions are welcomed. My other option is to get a Phosban Reactor instead but would rather go the natural route if possible.

P.S. - Current numbers are:
Ammonia = 0
Nitrites = 0
Nitrates = 0
Phosphates = 0
Ph = 8.4
Alk = 9dkh
Ca = 480

Thanks. :headwalls:

I have a 29G biocube with the nano-glo light to grow chaeto and it is doing a great job. I opted for that instead of a protein skimmer since the tank is in the bedroom and I wanted it to be as quiet as possible.

I've got a 16gallon Nuvo and was getting some algae in my sand even though I run a Nano Remora (which, btw, is virtually silent with the muffler they sent me) even though I would vacuum it out every week. Put some chaeto in the back with the 4watt JbJ magnetic light which I run about 15hrs/day on same schedule as my lighting and not only is my sand algae no longer a problem, the walls are much, much better as well.
Measures 0 nitrates and 0 phosphates when I test and I feed pretty heavily too.

Nice. Exactly what I wanted to know. I am definitely going with it then. Should be up and running in a week or two.

Thanks
