Should I keep the banded serpent starfish that came with my mushrooms

I just bought a mushroom rock last night from a local fish store - (and man their employees all looked like the bottom of the barrel; one girl had the store name painted on a tee shirt in finger nail polish because she refuesed to pay $10 for the stores required name-branded tee shirt - but I digress) Along with my mushroom rock I apparently got a serpent banded starfish - he was hiding in my live rock this morning and I caught a glimpse of him. I have a reef tank and believe I can keep him, but wanted your expert opinion.

Interestingly, the mushroom rock was $20 and the starfish was priced at $25.

hes fine, he will be benificial, eating left overs and they are very pretty as well.

What colors? I have a black with gold banding and love it when he comes out...beautiful little guy.

I also have smaller black and green in the reef somewhere...but they are much smaller and rarely come out.

Oh, I agree its a beneficial creature to have.

He is your typical black and grey serpent starfish - very typical of what I see in the Caribbean on night dives.

All I can see is part of a tenicle sticking out from under a piece of rock.

Thanks for the advice. I tried to pick up a tenicle with tweezers and he was not moving an inch. He did move overnight though.
