Should I try and take some live algae/caulpera home

I am in CT and there appears to be some live sea lettuce and some really nice red algae Question is should I try and bring some home or will it be dead? I am leaving tomorrow on airline If I should try and bring some home how do I do it? will my tang eat this stuff/ will it grow etc

Hey stingray,

Ulva or sea lettuce is loved by many types of tangs. I think it should grow OK. Don't expect it to attach to anything. I would think if you put it in large ziplock bags with a small amount of water and double or triple bag it, it should be ok for a long time. Is it legal to take stuff from there?

dont know? but its washed up on the beach and its fresh and still looks edible for my tang... thanks
