Should I upgrade my tank?

I emailed the company about a custom 40 gallon.

Squared off glass design with a simple stand (no handles or anything, just solid doors) :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but going on this forum and asking if you should upgrade tanks is like walking into a dark metropolitan alley and asking if anyone would like some free crack.

Haha. Good analogy :D

I just wanted to egt other peoples opinions about it, since I really don't know much about bigger tanks. Just want to know what things I should be looking for and all :)

Are T5's any better then MH? Or are they about the same. I know MH draws more power, but I want t be able to keep some more advanced corals and clams :)

Get as big as you're allowed to get :)

I would like to get a larger one, but 40 gallons is about the limit for me. Space, and 40 gallons is a good size for a somewhat beginner to this all. :)

Gotta factor in the cost of it all too. I don't have a tonnnn of money that I can spend on it right away. Still waiting to hear back on the custom tank estimate :)

Don't buy a new tank if you're on a budget. Look on craigslist. I've seen some amazing deals. Example: 120gal , stand, hood, sump, pumps, and already plumbed for $300. Spend a good month on craigslist looking for a good deal. You will find one.

Doesn't have to be super cheap, just not a few thousand :p

Im finding out about a custom one that will look pretty cool.

FWIW, upgrading is fun! Maybe a few more headaches, but it opens up your possibilities for stocking different animals. I am in the process of upgrading (cycling the water as we speak), and the one fish I really want to get is a Midas Blenny. My old 30g. AIO was just too small for it, but now I have plenty of room for one. In fact, I can't wait to find a nice one, and my LFS is going to find it for me! :)

Yeah my LFS makes custom tanks and is really helpful :D Nice to have when you are beginning :)

They've noly screwed up once on me which was when they gave me RO insted of Salt, whch killed a lot of corals in my tank :( My fish lived though.
