Show me your 20k Radium tanks?

Which ballasts are you guys using to get 6 months? HQI? I picked up a dimmable ballast hoping I could get more life out of the bulb by running it at spec wattage.

That was my experience with this bulb as well. I replaced them at the six month mark.

I just changed out my 250w Radiums at 10+ months. These are being powered by Bluewave 7's. I took a par reading before changing the bulbs. Old bulbs:bulb 1- 1250, bulb 2- 1150. New bulbs: Bulb 1- 1350, bulb 2- 1200. Readings were taken at the surface under Lumenmax 2's, lights are run about 6.5 hours a day. Looks like they lost about 8% of their output and I couldn't really see a difference in color.

That's not bad at all

Radium is best looking 20k bulb out there. I just loved it

By far it was my favorite M.H. bulb. Here's my old 125 a few months before it crashed. Corals were a little washed out and faded in this picture due to AEFW.

I just found this thread and I saw where people were questioning if a coral vue dimmable ballast set to 360W would be ok for the 400w Radiums but never found an answer to the question. Did this idea work for anyone? If so how long did you run them like that and do you feel the color and par were ok?

I was wondering about a 400w Radium in a true pulse start (M135) ballast. This is supposed to be how the bulb is spec'd to run but have yet to hear anyone running it like this and there impressions/pictures.

Interested in hearing about that as well. Just picked up a used duel pfo pulse start ballast for my upgrade...

is any one running 400 W radiums on the vertex ballast and what other bulb runs good with the vertex ballasts, I have all Acans and Lobo's open brains and micrussa's hammer's plates , well u getthe idea. i have 250 20 k reefflux and they are crap they are like the 12k

Here is my mostly sps tank:
I run 3 - 250 wt radiums with Lumenmax reflectors, running on galaxy ballasts. The only other lighting are my Power Brites actinics only. I run the radiums for 5 hours, the power brites for 10 hrs. Tank has been running for 10 1/2 months.
I LOVE THESE BULBS!!!!!

Way to over kill. I have a 100g tank and I am able to keep sps anywhere in my tank. Not only that but I have to be careful where I put my lps cause its too much light.

Here is a picture of mine to give you an idea of what it might look like. Same set up LAIII minis 20k radiums on galaxy ballast

only radium? I thought it was much bluer

I could be wrong, but here are my bulbs at 8 months

I agree w/ u. I start seeing achange at around 8/9 months. I too photograph my tank a lot and find that I don't need to change the white balance till about the 1/2 mark of the 8th or 9th month.

Did u say how long you run your lights? and what ballast you use?

2 favors .... :)

1) You put your link, only to tank lit with radium, without actinic T5 or VHO ..?
2) The light emitted by radium, changes depending on the electronic ballast used?
