I don't want to start a debate over wether or not this manufacturer is good or not, but at www.glasscages.com you can get cubes at all kinds of sizes. a 310g cube that measures 48x49x31  :eek2: :eek1: But i am still looking to starting my own cube. I like the idea of having a cube because it is the display side on all sides.

Tim, I believe the tank itself, reef ready (drilled w/overflow and return) is 340.00.

I am building the stand and canopy myself.

I plan on lighting it with the retrofit kits at hellolights, the 26" quad VHO tubes, and 2 x 250 watt MH's, probably a 13K hamilton and a 20K Xm. Vho's will most likely be a mix of 10K and Actinic, not sure yet, that part is a ways out, budget wise, I am not planning on having salt water in the tank until december (moving then anyhow, so wouldn't be smart to put up a new tank now).

I am having a custom sump and skimmer built by a guy from my local aquarium society (MAAST).

Right now, the big internal debate rolling around in my head is whether I want to do a gravity fed fuge, or have the fuge pumped back up into the tank... just not sure... I like the idea of a gravity fed fuge, but the hindreance it will cause in engineering and then later in blocking access to the tank is tough to dismiss.

Oh, and those of you wondering, I am 6'5" so I am not worried about having such a large shape to work with... :) long arms, and a nice strong 'claw' device that I can pick up a magnum 350 with should be enough to get by!

good to know I am paying the right price... I expect it's a little more expensive, the height probably dictates a thicker glass...

If I could afford it, And I may just save up and do it, I might get it done in starphire.

Not exactly a Cube 30x30x24 but close:D

Oi!

I have three 'cubes'.

The one with the light has a bubble coral.

The middle one has feather dusters.

The 'dark' one has a suncoral.

Cheers!

I have one of those too nigel, mine has a shroom, a zoanthid rock, a dwarf zebra hermit, a ble leg, and some red bubble algae in it, 1 inch sand bed. Have witnessed mini-stars, bristleworms, and copepods in the tank as well.

If you click on my red house there is most of my info on my webpage. Tank is an Inter-American 120 gallon starfire cube with a single 2 inch drain in the center overflow. Canopy and stand were made by me :D Lighting is a single 400 watt 20k, two 75 watt vho actinics and two 10,000k power compacts. 100 gallon rubbermaid sump in the basement. Return pump is an iwaki 70 fed through two 3/4 sea swirls. I have an 80 watt uv fed by an iwaki 20 that dumps into a 40 breeder which i use as my refugium/frag tank. It has a 400 watt radium on reverse light cycle from the main display. the 40 breeder has two one inch bulheads that feed into a 2 inch pipe that gravity feeds back two the 100 gallon sump. Skimmer is a custom made single beckett skimmer driven by a Gen-X mak 4 pump. I also have a custom made single chamber calcium reactor that holds about 12 pounds of media and circulation is provided by an Iwaki 20 also. I use no chiller, just a good fan on the sump and a small 4 inch fan in the canopy. I add nothing other than food to my tank. If you have any questions feel free to ask away :D

TTT. Wanting to do a 40*40*25 in the future with center overflow and returns with 2 36" maristars and four-side viewable. I'm also trying to figure out how to incorporate some tunze streams on/in/near the overflow to keep everything as clean looking as possible.
