Show me Your Fancy STANDS!!!

Thx davocean :) ,

I wanted a minimalistic calm look to match it with my interior.
The idea for the doors came from this great thread  , a couple of pages back.
Love your woodwork too !!
Especially the octopusy cut out in the canopy , i to was thinking of making a stainles steel annemone or seahorse or something else ... , don't know yet , to mount in the center of the canopy.
Is something i can do later too.

Thanks for compliment.
There is a guy on my FB page that does some awesome metal work w/ LED backlighting that may be similar to what you are looking for, and I think might fit well for you.
It's called, killshot metal works, maybe search that or if I see his link I will post it.

Oh and an update pic.
I'm waiting on doors, decided to order them this time since they can make them for what I pay for in material.
Of course I will still stain them myself, and I plan to use the same colored glass as inserts that will be backlit by my fuge light.
It's finally getting there.

my stand

my stand

I just wanted to finally put my tank build on here. I think it is always interesting to see what people have done and get feedback on your own successes. Let me know what you think. I built this stand for my 2 tanks. One is a mixed reef tank and the other is a fish tank for fish that might not work out in a reef tank. My stand had kitchen cabinet hinges and I wanted flush doors for a clean look and I also added soft close dampeners so that I could slam the doors and it would not scare the fish or corals. Here is the link.

This was a stand I built a few years ago for my Aquapod. It's birch plywood wrapped around a 2x4 structure. The top is made from two layers of 5/8" plywood, with decking adhesive and screws, and then a layer of ceramic tile and edge trim to match the kitchen table that I built before I did this.

(I still have the stand, but not the tank)

Just wondering how all of you got the tank bottom to fit so snuggly? My tank has the plastic rim that runs around the whold tank.

On mine I build what is basically like a U shaped cap out of 1x that slips on top of the cabinet frame.
There are other ways of doing something similar.
On tanks w/ trim sometimes I pad that cap w/ 1x to sit higher and hide that trim, and I usually finish out w/ crown moulding underneath to hide that padded area.

This is probably the best thread i've come across. Im having to build a stand and floating canopy for my 36"x36" and this just open my eye with ideas..

Thank you too everyone who has posted

^^ Thanks!
I haven't had much free time lately so haven't been on here much, nice to see this thread still alive, lots of nice stands for inspiration and ideas.
