Hope this isn't jacking the thread here....
But what are you guys keeping your Alk. at?
I just lost an open brain and was told that my alk was to low that LPS like high alk.... IS this true?
there is a preferred range for alk.....7.8 to 11.5 dkh .as long as you are in this preferred range then you do not need to dose. if you have a coral that puts a demand on all for eg alk then with consistent monitoring you will see a drop. in the range to the low end...further drop out of the range then you have to add alk to bring the level back in the range.
the alk level in sea water is 7.8

brain corals are sensitive to flow. you have to tweak it just right
Angel fish and some butterfly love to nibble at the

l would think it would be more these factors then alkalinity

Really pretty!

tks for taking a min to look

I'm having to do some rearranging as frog spawn torch and hammer would only last a month on that space on the substrate. totally by accident I noticed the banner fish nipping at it. it seems that it only bothers with coral on the substrate so I am doing some rearranging

Capn,
That is Xenia covering the Rock & Wall. In the Center is a Softball size Tricolored Clove colony.
When I upgrade in the next month I do plan on taking out the Xenia ( more room for Euphyllias ).

I finally got finished moving mine across the room.

Only the fox face picking on my copperband

I have a coral beauty and bicolour in there with no problems either.. Lucky I guess

I guess you did get lucky. Mag Foxfaces and Centropyge are my favorite fish, but LPS are my favorite corals everything says they aren't a good combination. I'm glad it's working out for you. Maybe I'll give it a chance. What's your feeding regimen?
