Considering one of these... don't see many available online, and would love to see more pics if anyone has one and has a pic handy!

not a great picture, but by far one of my favorite fish!

great tang! just to be clear -- this is the lemon peel mimic (Acanthurus pyroferus), not the eibli mimic (Acanthurus tristis), correct?

A+ for rock cleaning.Sadly I no longer have it. It died during my tank upgrade. was being housed at my lfs(along with all my other fish) and they had an electrical outage overnight . I lost everything . had him about six years maybe more. he was a little over 6 1/2 inches long. I still want to get another one some day.

ugh! so sorry to hear that! thanks for sharing the info. i will be on the hunt for one now thanks to your positive experience.

Heralds angel mimic tang, very small at about 1 1/2"

Awesome photo series Kahuna.

Are mimic's aggressive at all? One of the lfs near me had a nice large one that was just beautiful. It was in a 180g tank though and really being aggressive towards a medium sized blonde naso. Just curious after witnessing that...never heard of them being very aggressive so I've assumed it was just that one specimen.

Mine was in with a 7 inch sailfin and at one time a 6 inch hippo. It was not aggressive to them but could definitely hold it's own with the sailfin. sailfin thought he owned the tank.

any issue combining the mimic with a powder blue? i know they are both Acanthurus. (i've seen folks do this in larger tanks, but my display is only 200g...?)

Only piece of advise I would give is add them at the same time. I added my black, yellow, and chevron all at the same time into my 265. with no issues. On a side note it's funny when you say only a 200 gallon . Years ago that would have been a monster of a tank!

yup - 200g feels like a monster to me coming from a 50... it's humbling to see the 450g tanks on the SPS forum! my tank is shallow -- so even at 200g, it's basically 5' by 4' with a lot of open rock work. i'll post pics when it's all running. at the moment i'm still stabilizing my lighting/chilling situation before moving on to stocking.

Thanks. I’m keeping PS with lyretails. I have 1 male, 1 female PS, and 1 male, 3 female lyretails.

This is mine, about 2"
Had some problems during the first 4 weeks but now its eating like a pig and very peaceful.
I'll try to make a better photo of it today.
