Great pics guys. Heres mine. I love them. I got them from a local guy who does orders. He says there tank bred but I'm not sure.

Great pics...nooo I remember that face. My royal grama would back down to no one! I was thinking the same thing krak. I wanted to set up a dedicated tank just for a pair and can't seem to find them for sale anywhere.
 
couple of questions .

1. are these labeled onyx or just a solomon island variety of percula?

2. my lfs has percula that look like these and they are labeled solomon island percs. Are these the same fish
 
yes, onyx is just a term given to those that have more black than most you see.

generally you see them from the soloman islands or east in png.
 
You can't really go by all the percs in this thread EZ since all of them are not the "onyx" variant. The definition (black filled in between all three bars and a black dorsal) has become so diluted over the years it's pathetic. Flameangel's pair are the real deal, but what else would you expect from the hatchery (Bill Addison) that coined the term "onyx".
