Ok, Eric, Menard.....there should be a rule about true "cherry pickers" not being able to post pictures to make us all drool.

There is a reason why I went out and got a 400 gallon tank! It is called SPS envy!!!!

Looks great!

I'm drooling at all these beautiful shots as well. I'm sure as this thread starts catching more steam, we will have plenty more drooling to come :D Menard has beeen doing this for some time now. My first frags were from him and Patrick Monaghan from SPSfrags.com.

Eric I got to get out there and see your tank in person I love the rockwork.

SniperSPS- Awesome as Always.

Menard- Absolutley gorgeous. I can wait to fill my 180 in with growth like that !

Chris I love the idea of grown from frags my hats off to you bud! Everything looks great.

And now

My 180

Anytime you want beat the heat come on down ;) I hear your setup is sweet looking as well. From the pics I would have to concur. If I ever get out to visit my family in Phoenix, I'll have to arrange a visit:eek2:

Nice shots Rav-65 and fishypets.

What lights are everyone running? I was running Iridius in the pic. I put Radiums on the changeout 2 months ago. I cycle with Xm's too. I rotate these 3 bulbs on my chageouts and have had my best results with them. All 250 se on HQI in Luminarcs Mini's .

a mix of 2 175W XM 10ks on Hamilton Magnetic and a single center mounted 400W XM 20k on a 430W HQI ballast. No fancypants reflectors here - just a flat sheet of aluminum.

I am running 2 250 SE 10K Ushios on magnetic ballasts with 2 110 URI atinics and 2 55 watt blue PC bulbs(just because they are in the retro and I like a little extra blue). No fancy reflectors here either but going with RO II's on the next tank.
Chris

whimper...whimper...just wait till my frags grow!!! Then I can post...ah what the heck.

Very nice tanks everyone. It looks as if some of the corals are touching in Diff. tanks. What do you do when the Diff. SPS start to touch each other. Trying to place some SPS frags in my main tank..Thanks......

It depends on what species are touching. Some species will sting and kill certain species while not bothering others. Some species will just stop growing near certain species but no tissue damage will occur. You just have to see what happens as the corals you have grow. As long as you dont lay two corals on top of each other, nothing will happen over night. You will have plenty of time to cut or move corals to keep them from harming each other.

Originally posted by whiteshark How do you guys frag these things when they start to get real close to the front glass? Can you just break pieces off?

You can break them off or use something to cut them. Stainless steel scissors or sheers work great. SPS seem like they would be fragile but as long as your tank is stable and they are growing, breaking them off doesnt bother them at all. In fact, it helps the rest of the coral to get better flow and therefore can be very good for the coral and others around it.

2 becomes 4 and 4 becomes 8 and 8 becomes 16.....

It's sort of exponential....then when you get to about 50 you start thinking "I need to thin these guys out"
