Show me your ultra ultra ultra LPS pieces!

I'm sure this isn't "ultra ultra", but eh, eye candy is eye candy.

Mech, that works for me! Ultra is in the eye of the beholder. Not always is it unreal fake looking colors, but also texture and uniqueness in color and polyp extension. What's that purple and gold colored coral next to that beautiful blue/green scoly?

Aw, thank you!

It's a plate I picked up as a rescue (rescuing dying corals from people is a HUGE passion of mine...in fact, that Scoly I posted was a "rescue" as well). I've had the plate about a week now, and he's starting to heal up nicely. He's eating like a pig!

I thought it was a plate, I saw the tiny little nubs on the side of the photo, although it was hard to tell. That is a fantastic looking piece.

Again, if we could refrain from ridiculous actinic shots that would be fantastic. We all know the coral is amazing in the first place, I want to (as well as most of the other people looking at this thread) see the real colors of the corals.

I'm thinking of doing a weekly thing here on this sticky, perhaps every week highlight a certain type of LPS and if you have it show it? I am kind of interested in different types of Cyphastrea (branching or encrusting). They are underrated corals and there are some awesome ones out there. So, if anyone has some unique Cyphastrea, show it here this week! If you don't have any, you're still welcome to post any picture you want. Since there's a great following on this thread, I figured we could have some fun with it. Anyone who agrees say 'I' and post a picture! Maybe mention this week's target family of coral in your post so new people can get in on it too so it isn't a huge mess. I think we can pull this off if we collectively do this.

I don't think you're going to win on that front. :headwally:

...Doesn't look like it..But I'm not giving up just yet. Cool goni but it looks purple, hence my "stay away from ridiculous actinic shots" recommendation. Is it really blue? Or is it purple? Either way, not every day you see that colored goni, and it's a nice size, very healthy piece.

Keep em comin! I would take some more photos of my own pieces, however my camera phone does not do any corals justice.

Hello all,
is there a Blue Hammer or frogspawn coral out there ?

and I mean blue under 10,000K light.

thanks :)

I have seen one. It was more grey/blue than blue though. I have seen blue hues in euphyllia. Just type in "blue hammer coral" on google images you will see a couple.

I assume no one has any cool cyphastrea to show? Well, I suppose we can go onto the next coral. What say you about some unique colored galaxea? Yes, these corals suck in tanks with other corals (especially within 6 inches of them!) but I have heard of really nice ones. Can we see 'um?
