Hey, how's things up in the NW? I lived in Port Angeles a few years back and still have lots of friends and family in WA and OR.

Funny comments...we actually go our sales tax license a few days ago...obviously with that much "real estate" we are planning to do a little business beyond just your "run-of-the mill" frag tank.

No build thread I'm afraid...but yes they are a "rubbermaid" type tote for the tanks...I did a lot of "testing" and reading to find ones that will not degrade too much from UV...the biggest factor in using them is the framework has to support them well on all sides and bottom as they want to bow badly when filled with water...they are interconnected using uni-seals and plumbed to sumps as various separate systems for SPS, sofies, nems, etc.

Can you give me some insight on your halide setup? I'm curious where you made/purchased the arm that holds the light. Just what I'm looking for on a future project.

Ran this since tail end of 2009 up to last weekend. Served growout purpose for new tank, starting with few-polyp frags.

Hydroponic tray as tank. Worked well. This is an early picture when it was just started

how it ended up

All quite inspiring. Seems I've had prop systems nearly as long as I've had displays. This is the one I've got now, for two years.
Started life as a plastic barrel, your basic bare magnetic ballast in a cracker can, fixture from a storm damaged light pole, light stand from electrical conduit.

After awhile hung frag racks off sides, another part of a barrel for a sump

Oh, got a spare tank? Make a refugium with air lifts.

Growing faster than yo can sell, just add another tank, or rather rubbermaid container.

What lights are over your frag tank?

What do you guys normally use for legs for your frag racks? And do you guys anchor them down with anything?

I've been using eggcrate with 3/4" PVC legs for years, using cement/aragonite plugs molded from a baby bottle nipple, but am aware of its shortcomings. A relatively new method which works well with sps corals is found described here that you might want to consider. I've been using it for some months and while it isn't perfect either, it reduces some problems with eggcrate as the plugs are cheap and easier to use in displays plus cleanup crews can get to the surfaces easier. Thought I'd mention it.

I upgrade my prop tank ,the new one 60" x 36" x 12" with the same lights of the old one but i need to get 6 to 8 lights now, 1/2hp resun chiller, 180 vertex protein skimmer, Gen-x 1200gph ,mag 7,coralia #3, 44" x 22" x 16" sump.
