How do you guys keep the algae down? I have a 20L with a coralife t5 light and they brown slime and a lil hair algae is really buggin me. It's not connected to my main tank. I use RO water and only keep the lights on for about 8 hrs a day. Any critters that would help?

Stay up on water changes, lite feeding if you have fish in there and keep your nitrates down. I only run my lights for 7 hours a day and only have a Sohal Tang in there and just a couple Trochus Snails.

here's a picture of mine after changing the eggcrate as it got filled with aptasia and coraline. 20 G cube connected to my 150 G and in stand

wow...I am jealous

that is a beautiful setup and a great idea put into the works. I am dying to do something like this myself on my front patio. I want to capture the power of the sun and make a kick butt aquarium shed. Please keep us all posted with pictures and progress made. Is that just clear panels on the roof? anything special to them?

Cheers guys

The roofing will be double layer polycarbonate (at the moment it is a single layer) along with full insulation for the shed (a product called foilboard).

This is a long term project involving 6 tanks (2 sumps, 1 DSB & Fuge, 1 4x4x2 & 2x 2x2x1.5) and room for future expansion of another 4x4x2 and 2x 2x2x1.5 as such I am taking it very slowly to make sure it is done correctly (just the plumbing used so far 45x 90 degree elbows, 6 valves, 10 joiners and 18 meters of 40mm pvc pipe has been pretty exspensive) it will include 3x 250W MH lights using Lumenbright large reflector on a light rail which can be rotated out of the way when not needed (Spring, Summer and 1/2 of Autumn hopefully)

Hopefully it will be wet by the end of April if everything goes to plan but I am in no rush at all to finish it quickly and if it takes longer to get it done properly so be it

Cheers
