greenighs, great feedback. At least I'm feeling more comfortable knowing mine isn't weirded out or still in shock from being in a full blown reef. Not a species only tank.

Here art some Erectus I collected in new York. The female is in the process of transfering the eggs. The right picture is the fry and the bottom picture has nothing to do with seahorses, it is my reef many years ago.

I've had my dragonfaced pipefish in my reef for nearly a year now. He's doing well.

Okay, so it's not exactly a seahorse or a pipefish, but isn't it close enough? These are some bluespotted cornetfish, Fistularia tabacaria , that I cought a couple of years ago. They are now over 4 feet long.

Wow, those are awesome fish! They sure look like pipefish. I'm not familiar with Cornetfish.

Well, they are in the Syngnathiformes (pipefishes and seahorses) order:

Cool! I didn't know that pipefish had such large cousins. Over four feet long! Good grief, what size tank are they in??

Right now they are in a 2000-gallon holding tank, but in the summer we put them in an outdoor 80,000-gallon tank with lots of reef fish, sharks, and stingrays, that people go snorkeling in. The cornetfish are the stars of the tank. I also have some smaller ones in an 800-gallon tank that I caught this past summer. They can get to be 7ft long! If you look closely, the one in the foreground has a sergeant major in his mouth that he just ate.

A 2000-gallon tank? An 80,000 gallon tank? Wow, I can't even imagine how big that is! Is this at a zoo, or an Aquarium? Is this part of your job? How cool is that!

From the pic, it doesn't look like their jaws are fused, as in pipefishs. It looks like they can open up pretty wide. ??

Yes, the aquarium is called Atlantis Marine World. It's a really fun place to work. Their jaws are fused but they can expand to a pretty good diameter. I'll try to get a shot of one yawning to give you an idea. It may take a few days.
