Show off your Tangs/Surgeonfish!!

Wow! Thats very old!! How old were you when you got the tang if you don't mind me asking?

Your tangs are very cool!! I was 29. It has survived 4 moves and several tanks. Even the petstore I bought it from closed a long time ago. I love yellow tangs.

Very nice!! How long have you had it for? How big was it when you got it? Do you like it? Is it aggressive? Does it have alot of personality? Sorry about all the questions, I'm thinking about getting one for my 180.

Very nice fish. Doesn't seem to disagree with any other fish in the tank. (my Achilles is the one that has issues with other fish)

The ABT was maybe 2" when I got it. Oddly, it was mostly blue when I got him, but reverted to juvenile yellow soon after. Now, about 18 months later, it has matured to adult blue colour and is probably 6" or more.

Eats everything I put in and is extremely fat. You know that they get really big, right? 10" or more....

Very nice fish! So you think 9" is too big for a 6-foot 180-gallon? Just wondering because I am thinking about buying a sailfin for my 180.

For this particular fish the 180 seemed to be getting rather cramped. He was always a pretty mellow fish but was getting more and more aggressive. I think if you bought a smaller sailfin you could keep him for a very long time in a 180, maybe indefinately depending on his personality.

How do you like your achilles, I am seriously considering trying one of these out.

Alexander- Do you think the Desjardini was just too small to start with and thats why it died?

Juvenile atlantic blue soon after I added it to my display. It has a few 'bruises" from it's 1st meeting with my c.binotatus.

I love my Achilles and planned my downgrade around him. I do not recommend them for most people. They generally have a poor life span in captivity. Far too many people don't know how to care for them. I am fully aware that my current tank is too small for him and as a result to calm hostility I feed 5 times a day in addition to a half sheet of nori daily.

They really need at least an 8ft tank. I know most will argue with me that I am crazy, but most are unsuccessful in long term captivity of them. :)
