It was the first day i brought it home after a dip. It is up on the reef now. Thanks, it is one of the few wild colony's i have.

I wasn't going to have sps's in my tank but I was given a 6 inch across like that that was on its way out--put it within 8 inches of the halides with about 55 gph flow and it has come back great
I believe they are purple or blue tip acropora??

"Bubbles" - Yellow Tang (he was a little aggressive and now lives with Fishaholic 911)
He was 5.5 inches long when we gave him away.

dory_clean.jpg

"Dory" (Our 3-year old names the fish, so PLEASE don't comment on the name!)
She is growing quickly and is now about 2" long and we've had her for a year.

"Muddy" Our Powder Brown Tang - He went to fishy heaven after an altercation with Bubbles. He was 4".

"Zipper" - Powder Blue Tang
4" and growing!

zorro.jpg

"Zorro" - a 4" Naso Tang

baby.jpg

"Baby" - Flame Fin Tomini Tang
She's only an inch long and a voracious eater!

Yeah--my grandkids have named all my fish too--except for the damsel the wanted to name "con" I just could not change its name from 'PITA"

the tomini doesn't count--it never grows up:lol:

that's not bad I have a yellow, regal and sailfin in the 120 and I was considering a Tomini.

but are your tangs killing each other?

that naso looks very thin.

Here is a video of my three tangs at dinnertime tonight. I feed them nori every evening (they get either pellets, flakes or mysis in the am), soaked in garlic and either selcon or vitachem. They seem to be doing pretty well (fingers crossed).

Not to be the tang police but isn't that a bit much?

actually to be serious---that is not a fair crack to make towards k93. IMO he deserves alot of credit for working his butt off for keeping this thread going and encouraging people to post.

By asking questions he has stimulated alot of input other then pics for raising tangs and I for one am learning a heck of a lot more because of his and others efforts to post questions.

All of us have the concern about the possibility of our tangs outgrowing our tanks and whether or how long we can keep them in the present situation.
I know I have to get a bigger tank someday and that tank is going to be hard to get or save up for since I blew the wad on my 120gal and am still indirectly paying for it.
Everyone here is a tang lover--that's a given;) and I know I speak for myself and others---everyone here would like more tangs--rare ones, different species ect. There are so many neat tangs that it is like collecting baseball cards sometimes(I was a diehart baseball collector until I started reefing)

I really think in this case you are taking personally a well meaningful question that although k93 posed it, it was also a question that was close to being posted like alot of us.
I, myself would like to know how you are managing with all those tangs, and what your plans are----simply because I have the same size tank and would love to add more tangs too it--not because I am going to go off on some judemental tirade against you like some reefers do and are referred to as tang police

so, please could you relax a bit and possibly repost on how you are managing with the number of tangs you have--I am sure I and others would be non judemental

K93----keep up the outstanding work you are doing here---a great thread

I stand by my statement. It wasn't a crack, it was an observation.

"Very Nice, are all them tangs in a 120gallon. Not to be the tang police but isn't that a bit much?"

Your last paragraph was very elequent. Kar93 has done a nice job on this thread. But his statement in print doesn't convey his thoughts too well. And thinking about it, your right I don't believe he meant it how I took it. But others may have taken it like I did.

They aren't my tangs.

K93----keep up the outstanding work you are doing here---a great thread

I agree.

that naso looks very thin.

The yellow was the only aggressive one, and as I said, we gave him away. The other 4 tangs are from different families and get along wonderfully. I guess I should clarify that we currently have the Hippo, Powder Blue, Naso, and Tomini. The yellow was too big and aggressive, so we gave him away after he had a run-in with the Powder Brown tang.

The Naso is fat and happy. That picture was taken the day after we got him and the angle makes him look scrawny, but he was very healthy from the beginning.

I think the questions are valid. My husband loves tangs and we did quite a bit of research (and obviously had some set backs), while searching for our tang "colletion". As far as I can see, as long as the tangs are small when introduced into the tank and you don't have tangs from the same families all should go well.
