Looks like a doctor tang to me, Acanthurus chirugus. More photos?

*edit*
Nevermind, it doesn't have the traditional vertical stripping often found on doctor tangs.

can any one tell me what kind of tang this is? 4 " tl right now.
Looks like Acanthurus coeruleus, or the Atlantic Blue Tang.

In that second pic, you can see my version of nori feeding. I have a small rock that I rubberband nori onto, but I hate putting my hands in the tank too. So I have some ribbon tied around the rock to lower it down and pull it back up.

Nope. The juveniles are bright yellow, right?

You know the AtlanticBT has 3 different color phases right?

Can't find the adult one yet, but I think this one looks a little like yours, no?

the nose is not quite as pronounced and there is a distinct white mark at the base of his tail that i have not seen on an atlantic before. i will try to post another pic of him with dark colors and see if that helps. give me a few minutes

You're right about the nose. The one I posted looks almost more like Ctenochaetus sp. or Zebrasoma sp. than yours, which has a more typical Acanthurus profile....

Ever see what color the Caudul spine is?
Cool pics, btw

No problem! I knew I'd seen your fish before, and at first I thought it looked a lot like my own doctor tang, but I knew shortly thereafter that it wasn't right.

Its a beautiful tang. Do you see colour changes depending on its mood & environment?

he changes colors faster then any fish i have seen. if you look at those photos you can see how quickly he went from darks to light hues.they were all taken about 15 minutes ago within a 3 minute interval. i got him for $29.00 cause the guy at the lps didnt know what he was so thats what i offered him. i feel like i got a hell of a deal and i am happy about it. i'll post pics of the rest of my tangs tomorrow. thanks again
