OK, another question! Tonight my polyp's mouths are gaping a quite a bit. Does that ever happen to yours? Last night I fed them pellets and flakes which they simply devoured.I posted a pic of them after feeding.Do they expel waste thru there mouths? I had the lights on for an extra long time today And thought that might have something to do with the gaping.Is that possible?
They have been looking better and better every .I mean truly awesome . They are quickly becoming one of my favorite corals.

Man i dunno why your are taking so long to acclimate. Mine i think open up in a few days now, i have to keep relocating them cause somehow they keep getting to close to my elegance! alright i need to share some pictures.

this colony of mine is about the size of a grapefruit! got it for 50$ i need to frag it soon cause some polyps are getting smooshed into the sand. ill take some pics right now! tell me what you think.

oh and i agree this is about one of my favorite corals and i would be pretty beat up if i lost it... at close second is my elegance which is loving my tank.

i tend to feed my duncan only PE mysis and it seems to love the heck outta it. its hard to notice any growth with all the polyps.

Thanks EMUReef , maybe I did not explain correctly. I do believe they are fully acclimated. They look beautiful ,polyps are fully extended and they are huge , silver dollar size. I just don't know these corals yet so every time I see something odd I probably read into it too much . I am pretty sure I have found the best location for it seem like a mild flow and not to crazy light.

i see, well as far as flow i've seen a few in low/no flow and some in high flow so i can't say for sure how it effects them.

what i do know is that the LOVEEE to be fed.

Hey I got another question for everyone.

My duncan has been looking great but most recently one of the head's skirt is withdrawn on one side and it almost looks like it is trying to give more light to a new head that may be sprouting.
Is that possible?

Heres a pic of mine with a clown goby that has made it his home.

Not sure about a head receding to give light to a smaller one. But I have found duncans amazingly durable even to the point that when i moved them to a new tank they completly closed for a whole week. Thought for sure they were dead then next week bam they were fine.

I had been worried that he may have died cause i hadnt seen him awhile. Then i realized he just moved his home to there. Works well cause the dottyback wont harass him near it for some reason.

Update!
Well , my Duncans are doing great . I can not believe how huge they are getting. A few more heads have sprouted . These are definitely one of my favorite corals now. I am kinda dissapointed that I have not found them sooner but I would only see them occasionaly on line and never in stores . When I did see them on line , I never realized the polyps get so big. I will probably frag a little for my biocube in a month!

Your Duncans look fine. I'm sure they will pull through the shipping with no problem. In your second pic, it looks like one of them is already starting to open.

I just picked up about 35 to 40 heads of these guys today from a local reefer for $35 dollars. It took a few hours and they all opened up. There are alot of baby's starting to grow. I feel it could be fraged. I really like this guy and would like to add it to my frag tank. I'll include a pic in a bit.


How do you suggest I frag this guy? Thanks

I Have not fragged mine yet but I would imagine it would be pretty easy. Just cut off a branch and use some marine epoxy to attach to a rock or plug. I heard that the skeleton is pretty dense and might need to be cut with a dremel instead of a bone cutter. Again this is just speculation on my behalf . I would wait for some experienced advice from someone who has actually fragged them.

Try low light and low flow for now.

Out of curiosity, what are those blue things back there near the mushroom? Is it some kind of sponge?
