JPNDAVE- are you sure the percent of piccasso offspring is that high per batch?
From a recent conversation w/ some folks at ORA, they stated that they primarily breed clownfish to generate the platinum morph and since it so rare, that all normal looking clowns get sold as "regular" even thou they contain the correct genes to produce platinum offspring.
As for piccasso morph, i suspect over the years that PRA has locked in this phenotype by backcrossing to ensure that its more prevalent than what mendal would suggest. However i suspect it still less than 25% of the offspring have the morph.
Problem w/ clownfish "barring or misbarring" is that it is not totally a single gene event but most likely possess epigenetic or multigenic features. Hence the reason why some breeders can manipulate the outcome of barring.

Regardless-- yes piccasso clowns should give rise to at a few of their offspring being the piccasso morph

Well in the right conditions, that can be the fastest. If you aren't feeding enough, and they are in a normal reef setting, most likely a lot longer.

ugh, MAJORLY jealous. I've always loved picassos, thinking about getting one to pair with my true perc I have now (Wiggle Worm, AKA Wiggles). but knowing that my pair of teeny miss-barred B&W occelaris are being delivered tuesday certaintly lessens the jealousy. eeek, I cant WAIT!

I've had my pair for almost a year now. They're probably nearing 18months old I'd say. Super fat and always hungry. Don't mind the anemone; it survived an overheating incident.
