Shrimp and LPS; Mutually Exclusive?

I just picked up a really nice open brain coral yesterday, and as soon as I put it into my tank a coral banded shrimp came over, reached into each oral disc, and pulled out the contents. This will certainly kill the coral if this is an ongoing behavior. So, like the title says, is it impossible to keep LPS with shrimp?

I have cleaner shrimp , sexy shrimp and red shrimp in a heavily dominated lps tank.. no issues... I would move the cultrate to the sump

I had this problem with a Duncan, Slipper, lobo, ect. and peppermint shrimp. Now if I direct feed I just give a piece of fish to the shrimp first.

Shrimps are a crapshoot. I had two peppermints who were model citizens, then added two more who tore up all my Acans in days.. My cleaner shrimp will pick fresh food from a coral if it can, but once the coral closes its mouth, the shrimp will leave it alone.

I decided the peppermints weren't worth the trouble and I removed them.

My pepermint shrimp does that to my blasto and my trumpets and its really irritating to watch... I think he needs a time out in the refugium.

Never in my life did I think that the thought of punching a shrimp in the face would cross my mind. ;)

never had an issue with a shrimp other than stealing when I spot feed. Hermits on the other hand sometimes go after a stressed chalice.

It's kind of fun to blast a clepto shrimp with the turkey baster while he's up to no good. Looks like when Sigormey Weaver blasted that alien cockroach into space in the movie Alien. They will learn to fear the baster. They're intelligent.

I feed corals with a clear baster & the shrimp with a black one. Before feeding the corals, he gets a morsel from the black one first. He'll now stay away from the clear one now for the most part.
