hi, i had to move some rock around and this guy fell out, i haad seen him a couple of times before. presuming its a type of mantis shrimp - any idea on type or info

From the colours on its front claws and tail it looks like a Peacock Mantis.

[Gonodactylus]

This is clearly a gonodactylid, not an odontodactylid. It is hard to identify from the photo, but if it has purple meral spots, it is Gonodactylus smithii. Do you know where it came from?

This was posted on a BB i mod too with a close up. Merals point to Smithii.

That's what I thought. THe color of the uropod spines is typical. The orange carpal segments is a bit unusual, but I have seen it in G. smithii.
