shrinkage due to peppermint??

ok so i got home today and thought my nem had moved since i couldnt see it over the rock it usually sits at then i went around the corner and it was tiny every tentacle was 1/2 inch long at best and ive noticed the last few days that my pepermint shrimp sits next to it all day and night...very odd...so i shooed him away and am still doing so at the moment and the nem regained about another half an inch of tentacle could that little bugger be harrassing the nem or stealing foos from it or something because the tentacles are normally 2-2 1/2 long...what do you all think?....remove the shrimp?? or wait it out?

yes it is very possible. it has happened to me with cleaner shrimp. wait and see, but if it doesn't get better, I would remove the shrimp...

Peppermint shrimp will actually steal food from the nem straight from its mouth. I witnessed this first hand, personally i think peppermints are a predator to nems..

i had 3 peppermints that always stayed close to my gbta, saw they were sort of picking at the nem body so removed them.
have had no problems with the nem, so think it was a good thing to remove them.

get rid of the peppermint shrimp. i've seen them reach into the closed mouth and pull out the anemone's food, did the same to my fungia plate corals too.

alright ill take him out tonight when i get home....would you guys have any suggestions on other shrimp/crabs that would be good with anemones/corals even tho they are oppurtunistic im sure some are better than others

a pair of harlequin shrimp would be cool if you can fulfill its dietary requirements. scarlet or red legged hermits are good. i don't like the blue legged because they attack my snails.

i have a peppermint with my bta and i've never seen it steal food... my bta grabs the food with it's tentacles so nothing else can get to it.
i've had success keeping them together
plus my clowns protect it
i have a pair of black ocellaris

I was planning to get a few peppermint shrimps to tackle to aiptasia that has decided to take residence in my tank. I have tried joes juice, boiled fresh lemon juice, only to have them come back in a few days, w/ brand new ones.

Now, I'm worried about them harassing my bta's! I thought peppermints were nocturnal, & only came out @ nite.

By the way, I had a bta eat one of my cleaner shrimps. So, I guess its one of those hit or miss situations?!

.... they eat a very small amount, once a month is o.k. and can do alright if you've a large replicating supply of Asterina .25"-1" starfish in your system.
