Shrooms and Rics seeking shade?

Hello all,

I have a 6 month old reef tank with several mushrooms and rics. Recently 2 of the shrooms walked off their higher level rocks and placed themselves in a very shady spot. One of them has been in the shade for over a week and is going from green to clear.

I have Power Compacts, about 260 watts, half white, half actinic, they are on for about 12 hours a day.

Several other shrooms and rics continue to do fine in various places in the top half of the tank, in full light.

Any ideas? should I move them back out in the light?

thanks

Mike

Since they can go where they want, I would let them. I have two tanks similar in wattage to yours I take care of. In one the mushrooms that are shaded are doing better than the fully illuminated ones, and the normal ones are moving down the edges of the rock.( these are all on the same rock). In the other tank the opposite is happening. I put a rock in tilted so there were 15 or so in the shade and 15 or so in direct, and now all the shaded ones are on the way up to the light. So I would let them do their own thing- unless they were just cookin` under the lights faster than they could bust the proverbial move.
