Shutting off Powerheads with anemone intro

Assuming the RBTA arrives healthy at my LFS, I'll be getting one today. How many of you have turned off your powerhead (especially at night) rather than risk them being caught by one, as it settles? I'm planning on doing this, but will keep them on, when I can watch the tank. Thoughts? I still have movement/water coming in from the return pump.
 
I only turned mine off to let the RBTA attach to a rock. It only took about 15 minutes for mine to attach then I turned my powerheads back on.
 
If you turn it off at night it might detatch at night to find a better place.

I guess what I mean is during the 'day' time it has lots of flow, then at night the flow stops. It will want to find that better flow that it gets during the day time. It is best to let it attach then leave the PH on.

I WOULD WOULD WOULD recommend you get something to cover the PH. Even if it is pantyhose. Anything. A chewed up nem is a horrible thing.
 
Even a fish net cut and secured over the powerhead would work - I have a filter/netting type material (came with my Aquaclear - it's a bag used to hold media) on my 2 powerheads, secured with rubber bands. I wouldn't be able to sleep with them uncovered with 3 anemones in there.

2 of mine stuck quickly within minutes with powerheads on and they never moved - one came to me in the mail non-sticky, so it sat in a cup of rubble for a few days until it stuck to a piece. A healthy anemone will stick where you put it. If its cranky and doesn't like the place you chose, it'll move, hence covering those powerheads!
 
I appreciate your info. I was disappointed to learn the RBTA did not arrive with the shipment, so I'll have to wait till next Tues and hope it's with their next shipment. I'm ordering this through PetCo because they are only $22! The reef store out here wants about $100 for one. I think I've done enough research to know what it should look like, so I feel getting one from PetCo should be pretty safe.
 
So, I guess the remedy would be to wrap some netting around the outside of the Koralia, although this will lessen the flow somewhat and cause it to clog faster.

Yes... I have 2x MP40's and I purchased the extra foam covers just for that.

I replace mine either daily or every other day. Depends on what has gone on. If they slip off YES it does have a lot more flow. But if you keep an eye on them and replace them daily, the flow is still at least 60%+ .

So, you keep your netting on even after the anemone has settled? I agree about not sleeping with them uncovered, but I thought it was only temporary. I guess not a bad idea. I know the netting you're talking about. I've never seen that by itself, only with the media in it. You buy it with media, and just use the cover? I'm thinking I could find something like this in a hobby store.
 
Unfortunately my pic is from the 'net, my little mandy is too fast for me to get a pic :)

I cut my netting from the media bags so it fits over my powerhead...it's not pretty, but it works. My media bag came with my Aquaclear power filter, but I bet you can buy them separately. Something like bridal veil material could work, just something mesh-like, like a fish net.

I have kept my netting on even though my anemones seem to have settled. I do sleep better with them on, moody little things :)
