I recently bought a hippo tang from my lfs. he seemed perfectly fine. he was eating alert & had no sighns of distress or sickness. as soon as he was acclimated & added to the population, he went to the back & hid & has been there since only poking his head out a few times a day. I have yet to see him eat & i'm getting worried. any help would be great.

thanks,
russ

Normal man,

Blue Hippos are known to be like that. I think mine hid for a good 2 weeks when i brought him home. Hes battling ICH as we speak.... They are the kings of ich ya know.

Hell come around.

Agree, this is normal behaviour in my experience. My Hippo's are very much the scaredy-cats of my tank. At around 4" they are the largest fish in there currently, but they still dash for cover if a shadow falls over the tank, whereas all the other inhabitants are out and about looking for a feed...

very normal for them to act like that mine was like that when it was just introduced... and is still the first to run for cover causing the rest of the 'gang' to do the same
