SI or Onyx Percs?

I doubt they are Sanjay Photons, they dont look stubby enough. I have seen Ocellaris, like these before. They are a VERY nice looking pair for sure.

They are nice for sure. They have a very cool color variant, and do look a lot like Photons, just not as short and stubby.

Would you be less interested in them if they were as common as a regular ocellaris?

No they're still pretty fish. I just want to know more about what I have. I've never seen an Ocellaris like them before so I'm curious.
What am I supposed to call these fish? Do I refer to them as an Ocellaris color variant, or are they something that's bred by SA with a name?

I've worked in the fish trade for years, and have seen more variations of clowns then most. There is no doubt they are a variation of ocellaris. If you purchased them from a LFS, chances are a local breeder dropped them off and the LFS has no true idea what they really are. In your first post your talking about the fishes color variation, but in fact they can change and develop color through out their life. To answer your question completely, they are neither SI or Onyx, the best answer I can give you to the true species would be a hybrid between a black and orange ocellaris.

Nit picking here --- that wouldn't be a true hybrid since they are both Ocellaris, just different color morphs, correct?

Where are you located ? The only places that sold any of my clownfish are LiveAquaria and Ocean Gallery II in New Jersey.

sanjay.

They probably aren't Black Photons then..... unless by any chance you have somebody in Northern California that owns a breeding pair and rears the fry?

EDIT: I just looked up "Sanjay Black Photon Clownfish" on Google Images, and they look scary close to what I have!

Sanjay can correct me, but I don't be that would be possible -- time wise.
