Sick Anemone

Dave
I bought an Atlantic Anemone in error from my lfs thinking it was a Pacific one but it's grown, been feeding well and has been hosting my male maroon clown for about a year. Suddenly its shrivelled up and its mout all swollen, don't know if the clown has been aggressively rubbing against it or something else, can it be revived, tried to feed it the other day but it would not grab the food, any ideas on how to proceed.

Sick Anemone

Anemone at this stage should not be fed. Also separation can help since maroon is known to be very aggressive to their host.

I suggest to stop feeding it, monitor water conditions more frequently and separate the clown.

Could you tell us little more about your tank settings? Water quality, tank size, animals and lighting. More pictures can help to Id the anemone too since different anemones have different needs.

Hope he will recover soon.

+1....solid advice.....yup looks like in a fight.....and lost.....
Provided he is not "falling apart" and still holding on securely by foot, otherwise discard, death fouls the tank big time....
