Is it from physical attack by other?
If possible, remove him to QT for easy access to treatment.
Either that or use the Supreme Superking Filter Box or similars which can be hung on the rim inside the tank. Punch many holes (use hot screwdriver, no drilling) on the side for circulation of water. Place it near retun water for better circ. Hang in front glass and tape dark paper in front to calm the fish.
Treatment: Have used this method for many years w/ good results, even w/ what i catch to keep at home, snappers, etc).
Smear ltl Bacitracin ointment on wounds. Water and oil dont mix well. Any excess will just fall off. Simple smear daily should help fish out. Cheaper and more effective than dosing the water w/ remedies, IMHO. LMK if need more assistance. More than happy to assist.
