Sierra Vista - sell me RO/DI water?

Hi, I'm in need of someone in Sierra Vista to sell me a couple gallons of RO/DI water until I can get to Tucson later. Can someone here in Sierra Vista sell me a few gallons?

Just don't trust off-the-shelf grocery store water.

Ok, I talked to Mike and got the scoop (thanks Mike!!)

For now though, is there a reasonably safe alternative in the form of store bought bottled for emergency top-offs? Not something I intend to do on a regular basis, but anything has got to be better than conditioned tap water in a pinch.
 
Walmart and grocery stores sell bottled RO water. Also, there are water stores (Water Street Station comes to mind) that sell RO water. If you read the label, it will say "Purified using Reverse Osmosis" or something. That's much better than tap water, which should never be used, IMO.
 
Just to warn you though, those waters often have a TDS of 60, so it is better than tap but not anywhere near RO/DI water from a Saltwater store.
 
no worries, I just decided to man-up and went to Tucson today. Proud owner of 6 new 5-gallon cans to stock up with. Got 15 gallons of saltwater to start my QT tank with, and 15 gallons of RO/DI for topoff. Thank goodness I just finished a waterchange, so I got another week or two to get more.
 
Lol, you may want to consider getting an RO/DI of your own, should save you some money on gas. The Spectrapure Maxcap RO/DI is the RO/DI that most hobbyists seem to prefer, it should run you about $400, but that will quickly be made up if you are running to Tucson for things at any regularity.
 
I got a 6-stage, 100 gallon per day RODI unit off of Ebay for $60 plus $40 shipping. I have been making approximately 100 gallons per week with it since September and the TDS still comes out at below 5 (my tap water TDS is always between 400 and 500). I highly recommend it and have had no problems whatsoever with the unit (I was kinda suspicious about the price at first, but it works great for a fraction of the cost of other units).

Thanks, that's something to check out. I spent so many years in disgust at all the scams on Ebay that I now tend to forget it's there.
 
Don't know if I'm allowed to link to it or not, but if you search for New Reef and Reverse Osmosis it'll come up. If you click on the seller (purewaterclub*com), they have other, more expensive units too.

Looks good, I'll check into it further.

To think, I just dropped $40 in gas to go to Tucson, and an additional $40 to buy cans/sw/ro-di.

For about $20 more I could make it all day long in my own house.
 
Sometimes you can find some really killer deals on ebay, but most the time it is better to go with a reputable company name. Spectrapure is a very good company and it may be worth it to have the company's support and assistance should anything ever go wrong. I have always held by the motto that you get what you pay for and in this hobby it seems to be especially true.
 
Totally agree with that approach for the most part. I did buy something on Ebay once, it was shipped fast and good product, but there wasn't really this much at stake if the product failed.

However, someone having tried the product and giving a thumbs-up takes away some of the skepticism.

Anyone else used it or know of someone that has?
 
I've recommended it to several people on another forum who have all had positive things to say about it. Yes, it's true that you get what you pay for, but I'm a reefer on a budget and would not have been able to afford the "name brand" RODI units.
 
I don't see how you can manage a tank now with the gas prices the way they are. I moved from SV last year to take a job up here in NY, but when I was there we basically had to drive up to Tempe/Mesa/Phoenix to get anything reasonably priced after my brother's store closed in Tucson. What would you do without the Internet?

Simple, I don't trapse around town doing the bar-hop anymore, that saved me ALOT of gas money....j/k :D

luckily I live on post at FT. Huachuca and work there too, otherwise it would be a gas nightmare.
