Signal Goby

Sand Bed Fauna. Signal Gobies are hard to keep because of their eating requirements. Is yours alone? They do not do well if they are not in pairs.

I have only had mine three days now and yes he is alone. I've noticed his color perking up and he now sifts sand endlessly. I will try pellets and post a pic soon, he is a very interesting addition to my tank.

Keep trying the food, but he is getting food from the sand sifting. Though if he is in your nano tank he will soon run out of food in 2.5g. try adding some live food like pods.

HTH good luck

I have tons and tons of pods. I have a five gallon bucket with a heater, mini power jet, ruble rock, and my water change water. There are so many pods in that bucket that when I do a water change it looks like pod soup in the tank for at least an hour. You should see the tentacles on my brain for that hour!

2.5 is a bit small for that fish. I personally would not keep a fish in a tank that small.

My signal or twinspot goby started out on tubifex worms. They are fresh water larvae and not the natural diet of this fish but they do love it from my experience. Turn off the pumps and use a tube to sqirt some worms just barely in the sand. The dying worm will wiggle and create alot of action that grabs the fishes attention and the fish should eat it. After a couple of weeks the fish will understand that food comes out of the tube and begin to take prepared frozen foods. Mine would not take mysis, Formula one frozen or frozen brine in the beginning but now takes all of those. None of my fish will eat flake.

I would seriously consider upgrading though. The fish will be highly stressed in a 2.5 gallon.
