Silent Assassin

no pics....its starts out as rust colored spots that keep getting bigger, and then the ones on mine turned black. usually by the time it gets to where you can see the spots its too late, unless you can force it to molt in a hurry.

I'll try to get a pic up but I'm pretty sure he has it :(. I put some Iodine and Lifo in the tank to help him out. Hopefully he will molt soon enough.

sorry to hear that, all you can really do is keep his water quality good, keep the light dim, and feed him as much as he will eat to try and force a molt......good luck

I'm so ****ed off right now. You have no idea. This is the 3rd mantis that's died this year. I'm so ****ed off you have no idea. What are mantis shrimps incredibly weak against. They all do they same thing. I've had a Neogonodactylus Wennerae, Pseudosquilla Ciliata, and Odontodactylus Scylarrus. They all are fine. Eating well. Making homes. Then the 5th or 6th day they just start to like walk around like they r drunk or something. Then they jsut sit there and die. I wish Roy was still here to help me on this.

I'm currently running carbon through my 72g, so when I get my new mantis that a lady is ending me he will go in there in a tiny "breeder" crate thing.. I haven't put any bad stuff in the tank that i know of, but it was under a vent, if that is bad. I'm going to test the water as soon as possible, I think i can get my ater tested tomorrow but I dont know.

some of those chemicals could've just been in the air around your tank, you wouldn't have necessarily had to put em in there.....i even read about a mantis tank being in the same room as a heavy smoker and the mantis dying.
