Silicone Life span

I am going to buy a tank that is almost 10 years old and was used as a freshwater setup. It's a glass tank that is so well kept you would swear it was new. The only thing that has me a little concerned is that the silicone is going on 10yrs., should I worry? All replies with some knowledge about this subject would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Just wondering on the tank size?
but i have had my 30G for 5 years and the guy who had it before me had it another 15
and it is still fine, but then again i had a 50 gallon that was 8 years old and the silicon justt let go.

I would just cut the tank apart with a razor blade and clean up every thing with a razor blade as-well and then before you silicon it back together wipe down the edges with rubbing alcohol

Well I wish it was as easy as that TWZ, here's the story on the tank. It was made 10 yrs. ago and is all starfire and goes about 500 gals. The guy had it made in Canada and kept it in such prime condition that I think that maybe just buy it for now and have it re-siliconed later. I hate this yes-no, should-shouldn't, ect.
