Silly question about a Kalk Reactor setup...

I have been wondering if it is possible to run a kalk reactor on a closed loop ie pumping water from your sump through the reactor and controlling it with a ph controller. I am trying to keep it more stable.

I am currently using mine via an auto top off but find I get high pH during the day and low PH at night when there is no evaporation. I would like to make my auto top off independent of my kalk reactor.

Please excuse my ignorance on this issue...

I would just hook the pump to a timer so it only doses the kalk at night. This way you are increasing your PH at night and lowering your day time

So I would let my SG rise during the day and fall at night if I used my ATO on a timer....

What about the closed loop idea though, has anyone done something like this?

You cant pump SW through it. It will cause the ca to precipitate out. How about not mixing during the day?

I am going to set it up using a TOM aqualifter and to dose for 30 secs every 4 hours using top off water and see how that goes. My calcium reactor will be up and running during the day and off at night.

Thanks for the heads up on the precip tho!!!
